Away Combo
Looking for a polite way to ask guest to bring money instead of presents for a combo grad/going away party?
My daughter is leaving for the army 2 weeks after high school graduation. We are working on the invitations, and trying to come up with a nice way to announce a “money tree” for the graduate.

As you are aware, (so & so) is graduating from (X) school. Upon her graduation, she will be leaving for (place) to start her training in the Army.
We will be having a combination graduation/going away party for her at (X).
Since she will be leaving within two weeks, she is not in need of (X) like stuffed bears, pictures….ect.. Even though we are sure that she would appreciate them, she can not take them with her and to where ever she maybe stationed.
As her friends and family are said to see her go, we would like to ask you for a donation to a money tree to help her with her expenses while in basic training, to purchase phone cards (to call us and let us know that she is OK), and other things that the Army doesn’t provide her with
I am sure that once people know that she is going to service our country, they will be more then happy to give money.
