What are the specs to providing electricity & any estimates on the cost for a 24′ above ground pool?
Currently there is no electrical source to the pool outside. Previous owner ran an extension cord to a non-GCFI outlet. NOT safe!
it depends on your local codes but generally a sole use circuit with a GCFI is required. other things might be to be hard wired [no plug] with a disconnecting means near the pool, the plug might have to be a certain distance away from the pool, you should have a cover on the plug that is still rated for damp locations when the plug is plugged into it, there may be ground bonding requirements beyond the normal [ perhaps the frame of the pool might have to be grounded for example], someplaces require conduit or liquid tight flex while others let you use UF cable. call your local inspector. as to cost anyhere from a couple hundred bucks on up depending on requirements, local labor costs, and the details of your installation. its the cost of running the pump that really gets you however. a typical pump drawing 10 amps at 120 volts uses 1.2 KWH per hour of operation. running 24/7 thats 200 KWH a week X .15/KWH = $30 a week.
